THINGS TO DO

It's fair to say Canggu is the hippiest place to be on Bali at the moment. The area has been undergoing some development, however the places that have sprung up are different compared to the over development happening to Kuta and Legian. Canggu is alternative, and sustainability is what you feel.

CAFES & DINING

Canggu has an impressive growing list of stylish restaurants. Here are our favorite :

Betelnut

A firm favourite with expats and holidaymakers alike, this rustic two story restaurant is packed every night and serves healhty vegetarian and also meat dishes.

Bu Mie

If you’re looking for top class Nasi Campur (a dish of rice topped with vegetables, meats, noddles, egg, peanuts, etc but it served like a buffet so you pick and choose a selection of your favourite) head straight to Bu Mi on Batu Bolong Road. The best time to go is around lunchtime, monsieur spoon.

Old Mans

Describing itself as a ‘beach front beer garden’, Old Man’s is the perfect hangout spot come day or night, set against the backdrop of the surf breaks at Batu Bolong beach in Canggu. While the food maybe simple (burgers & chips, salads etc), the atmosphere is friendly and fun.

Monsieur Spoon

Top nothch original french bakery with high quality croissants, cakes and coffees. Perfect hang out for a lazy morning or late afternoon.

Echo Beach House

Every evening as the sun sets over the ocean, The Beach House’s legendary barbecue is set up with a glistening array of the freshest seafood, including prawns and lobsters, imported steaks, mouth watering ribs and fresh, organic salads. Enjoy your meal in the restaurant or an outdoor table spilling onto a beach sea side.

PLACES TO BE AND SEE

Canggu has an impressive growing list of stylish restaurants. Here are our favorite :

Echo & Batu Bolong Beach

Perfect for surfing for all levels, as well as sunbathing and enjoying the scene from on of the beach front cafes. 10 minutes from our villa.

Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot probably doesn’t need much introduction, since it is Bali’s most famous temple. The temple is just a 20 minute drive from our villa and its best visited in the early morning or if you don't mind it crowded at evening for sunset.

Taman Ayun Temple

literally translates as ‘beautiful garden’ and is generally regarded as one of the most attractive temples of Bali. The Taman Ayun temple is situated in a beautiful park with trees and ponds, near the village of Mengwi about 20 minutes from our villa.

Rice paddies

Just jump on a motorbike and drive around the area. Its full of beautiful ricefields and mountain backdrop, escpescially recommended late afternoon.

SHOPPING

Canggu has an impressive growing list of stylish restaurants. Here are our favorite :

Seminyak

Seminyak's shopping scene is filled with exclusive fashion boutiques and lifestyle brand outlets. Rows of stores featuring designer labels, homeware and furniture, handicraft and contemporary artwork line Jalan Raya Seminyak (also known as Jalan Basangkasa) and Jalan Petitenget, between Bali's top restaurants and cafés. Glamourous tropical collections feature ethnic and chic designs, natural and silk fabrics adorned with beading and sequins in strong deep colours – perfect for Bali’s tropical climate and any summer day around the world. Most of the streetside shopping starts from the corner of Jalan Raya Legian and right up to Jalan Laksmana (also known as Jalan Kayu Aya).

Ubud

Ubud is a haven for arts and crafts, and you can strike great bargains here. You’ll find some of the island’s major art markets in this region, with the most famous being the landmark art market next to the royal palace. Discover a wealth of paintings, carvings, traditional garments and unique knick-knacks – some with price tags, but most without, which means you can always put your bargaining skills to the test!.

SPORT

Canggu has an impressive growing list of stylish restaurants. Here are our favorite :

Golf

Playing the 18 holes at the Nirwana golf course is like taking a miniature tour through Bali. The course takes you through terraced rice paddies, along the Indian Ocean, and past Bali’s iconic Tanah Lot temple.

Horse Riding

Bali Equestrian Centre offers horseback riding tours in Canggu. You can choose between tours on the beach or village tours. The beach tours will take you along the water’s edge on Berawa Beach early in the morning or at sunset. A village tour will take you through rice paddies and small villages.
